UMA has a long-term relationship with the City of Augusta and rents a wing of the Augusta Civic Center.
The lower level features the Fitness Center, locker rooms, athletics office and a racquetball court. Nursing labs, faculty offices, and classrooms are located on the second floor.
UMA’s Outdoor Leisure Center features one of the state’s best Fitness (x-country) Trails, tennis courts and fields for Softball and soccer.
The Alumni Center is home to UMA’s President, Dr. James Conneely, as well as the offices of Advancement, Alumni Programs, Marketing and Publications. The lower level of the Alumni Center features a modern, state-of-the-art photography lab including darkrooms, state-of-the-art photo equipment and printers.
Named for Lloyd Jewett, UMA’s first President, Jewett Hall houses the Charles Dana Danforth Gallery and Jewett Hall Auditorium, both of which feature student work as well as local, national, and international concerts and art shows. Jewett also contains the Math Lab, science labs, classrooms, faculty offices, the College of Professional Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences, the Provost, and the offices for Tutoring, Effective Learning and Student Success, Counseling Services, and the TRiO Student Support Services Program.
A favorite gathering spot, the Katz Library offers space for group work as well as quiet space for study. In addition to actual library and helpful library staff, the building houses ITV classrooms, several compressed video classrooms, the Recording Studio, the PC Computer lab, and Writing Center. It is named after the late Bennett Katz who was instrumental in the establishment of UMA.
The Music building and neighboring Art building feature Music faculty offices, classrooms, practice rooms, lockers, the Sculpture studio and a Design studio. UMA’s state-of-the-art recording studio is located in the nearby Katz building.
The Michael Klahr Center contains the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine, whose mission is to educate the public, students, faculty and staff about issues of human rights violations. It is an active learning center, not a memorial or museum. Michael Klahr was a Holocaust survivor with Maine ties.
The lower level of the Randall Student Center houses the Bookstore, Moose Tracks Café, Flight Simulator, Mac Lab, Admissions, Enrollment and Information Services one-stop Center, the Registrar’s Office, and Student Financial Services. On the upper level, you will find the Veterans’ Lounge, offices for Student Life, Student Government Association, Honors Program, Vice President of Student Engagement and Enrollment Management, and Dean of Students. The building is named for UMA’s former President, Richard J. Randall and also features conference rooms, the large “Fireplace Lounge,” classrooms, faculty offices and the new Cybersecurity Lab.
Handley Hall houses the Architecture program and faculty offices, Art printmaking and drawing studios with faculty offices and the Richmond Gallery for display of Architecture and Art work. The fifth floor is home to the award-winning New Ventures Maine program which serves Maine men and women statewide and offers career development, entrepreneurship training, leadership development, asset development, financial literacy, advocacy, and referrals.
UMA offers courses and student support services at eight University College Centers. Locations include Bath/Brunswick Center, Katahdin Region Higher Education Center, Hancock County Center for Higher Education, Houlton Higher Education Center, The Education Exhibition Hall (South Paris), Rockland Center, Rumford/Mexico Center and Saco Center.
